Legendary Pakistan pace bowler Waqar Younis has heaped praise on Mohammad Hasnain, saying he sees a lot of himself in the Quetta Gladiators seamer.
Hasnain has represented the Gladiators in five matches in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) and picked up seven wickets at an average of 21.85.
With the 18-year-old having stolen the spotlight in the tournament since he is bowling at 150km/h on a consistent basis, he has been included in Pakistan’s ODI squad for the upcoming five-match series against Australia, which begins on March 22 in Sharjah.
“Yes, I had the same pace and vigour at this age. He is very talented, and has pace, bounce and the determination. I have told him not to lose his pace, which is his strong point,” Waqar, who is Islamabad United’s team president, told the PSL website. “What I have noticed is that apart from Shoaib Akhtar, all other pacers lost their pace after starting at 140-150kph, so Hasnain needs to heed on that.”
