The rain had the last laugh for the second straight day

The rain continued to persist on the second day of the second Test between New Zealand and Bangladesh in Wellington and led to a washout once again.

It was the same story as on the opening day as a toss couldn’t even be held.

While neither side came to the ground on the first day, both New Zealand and Bangladesh were present at the Basin Reserve at 4pm since there was a chance of play for at least an hour in the evening.

However, just as the groundstaff were completing their work on getting the wicket ready, the rain returned and the umpires decided to call things off for the day at 4.30pm.

To make matters worse, more rain is forecast on Sunday.

Like the second day, play will start 30 minutes earlier on Sunday at 10:30 local time or 21:30 GMT (the previous day).
