Veteran Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik has predicted big things for 18-year-old Quetta Gladiators pace bowler Mohammad Hasnain.
Hasnain has only featured in two matches in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL), but has stolen the spotlight as he can clock speeds of over 140km/h on a consistent basis.
In the two games he has played, Hasnain, who has played for the Pakistan Under-19 team, has taken two wickets at an average of 24.50, while maintaining an economy rate of 6.12.
However, Malik, who captains the Multan Sultans, pointed out that the Hyderabad native needs to be given proper guidance in order to ensure he blossoms into a lethal and effective fast bowler.
“He is a very good bowler and if he gets the right guidance, he is such that he could be Pakistan’s best hope,” Malik was quoted as saying by the Khaleej Times. “There are two or three other emerging players who have impressed and what is required now is the right guidance. And through that, if a youngster benefits, it will be good. It is a good sign for Pakistan cricket.”
