Karachi Kings batsman Iftikhar Ahmed is determined to perform well in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) and be recalled to the Pakistan team.
Iftikhar has represented Pakistan in one Test, two ODIs and a solitary Twenty20 International, but his last international match came in August 2016.
In the two PSL matches he has played this season, the 28-year-old only faced a single ball and didn’t bowl against Islamabad United.
However, in his most recent game against the Lahore Qalandars, Iftikhar was named Man of the Match for taking two wickets and conceding just four runs from two overs. He also smashed an unbeaten 33 off 25 balls.
“If you look at my record, I am among the three top scorers in Pakistan,” he was quoted as saying by the PSL’s website. “My job is to perform and it’s the selectors’ job to select. I hope more rewards will come my way.
“I played one Test and batted only once. I debuted in the Asia Cup (2016) and I didn’t get an opportunity to bat. For a player like me, there is first-class cricket and the HBL PSL to perform while it’s the selectors’ job to select me.”
