Ex-Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Rashid Latif has called on left-arm seamer Usman Khan Shinwari to try bowling more slower deliveries and yorkers.
Latif’s suggestion comes after Shinwari topped the list for the most runs conceded by a Pakistan bowler in a Twenty20 International after giving away 63 runs off his four overs in the second Twenty20 International against South Africa in Johannesburg. To add insult to injury, he didn’t even take a wicket.
With Shinwari having made history for all the wrong reasons, Latif feels that the 25-year-old has to introduce different variations into his arsenal in order to be a more lethal bowler.
“Shinwari bowls excellent in the first few overs of his spell,” Latif was quoted as saying by the Business Recorder. “However, he puts excessive effort on himself during pressure situations, which leads to him bowling no-balls. Shinwari being a very good bowler needs to try bowling slower deliveries and yorkers.”
