Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq has insisted that there is no truth in the rumours about Sarfraz Ahmed being stripped of the captaincy ahead of the World Cup.
There have been numerous reports that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are planning to remove Sarfraz as captain following his racist remark against South Africa all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo in the second ODI in Durban.
Sarfraz was banned for four matches by the International Cricket Council (ICC) over the incident.
Responding to all the speculation, Imam was quoted by the Business Recorder as saying: “Sarfraz is our captain for the past two years, there are no changes. He is only out for four games due to the ICC’s suspension. Meanwhile, Shoaib Malik is serving as the standby captain due to Sarfraz’s suspension.”
