Pakistan fought back brilliantly on the first day in Johannesburg

Pakistan came roaring back on the opening day in Johannesburg after South Africa opener Aiden Markram stole the spotlight early on with his superb knock of 90.
Opting to bat first, South Africa were dealt a big blow on the 10th ball of the match as stand-in captain Dean Elgar was caught behind off the bowling of Mohammad Abbas for five runs.
Markram and Hashim Amla made up for the loss of Elgar with a 126-run partnership, during which Markram raced past his fifty.
However, as Markram was within touching distance of his century, disaster struck as he was caught behind off the bowling of Faheem Ashraf for 90, which came off 124 balls and included 16 boundaries.

Amla went on to score 41 before he was caught by Asad Shafiq at slip off the bowling of Shadab Khan.
Theunis de Bruyn and debutant Zubayr Hamza stabilised the innings with a 75-run stand before De Bruyn was trapped lbw off the bowling of Abbas for 49.
Mohammad Amir then removed Temba Bavuma for eight runs before having Hamza caught behind for 41.
With Vernon Philander, Kagiso Rabada, Quinton de Kock and Duanne Olivier all falling in quick succession, South Africa were bowled out for 262.
Faheem was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, while Abbas, Amir and Hasan Ali snapped up two wickets apiece. As for Shadab, he chipped in with one.
Trailing by 262 runs, Pakistan made a dismal start to their innings as opener Shan Masood was caught behind off the bowling of Philander for two runs.
Philander struck again the very next ball as he dismissed Azhar Ali for a golden duck in the same fashion.
Imam-ul-Haq and Abbas, who was sent in as the nightwatchman, managed to amass an unbeaten 11-run partnership before stumps was called.
Imam finished on 10, which came off 33 balls and included a solitary boundary, while Abbas has yet to get off the mark.
Philander was the only bowler to take any wickets.
Pakistan ended day one on 17/2 and will continue batting on Saturday at 10:00 local time or 08:00 GMT.
