New Zealand captain Kane Williamson and Henry Nicholls scored an unbeaten 139 and 90 not out respectively to hand their side a 198-run lead over Pakistan on the fourth day in Abu Dhabi.
Starting off the day on 26/2, New Zealand added 11 runs to their score before debutant William Somerville was trapped lbw off the bowling of Yasir Shah for four runs.
Yasir made history upon dismissing Somerville as he became the fastest bowler in Test history to take 200 wickets.
Ross Taylor made a quickfire 22 before he was caught by Bilal Asif off the bowling of debutant Shaheen Shah Afridi.
That was to be Pakistan’s last taste of success for the remainder of the day as Williamson and Nicholls amassed an unbeaten 211-run partnership, during which Williamson brought up his hundred, while Nicholls was on the verge of reaching his own century, before stumps was called.
