The second Twenty20 International between Australia and India in Melbourne ended up being washed out after the hosts batted for 19 overs.

Choosing to bowl first, India got the breakthrough they were looking for on the second ball of the match as Australia captain Aaron Finch was caught behind off the bowling of Bhuvneshwar Kumar for a golden duck.

Chris Lynn made 13 before he was caught by Krunal Pandya at deep point off the bowling of Khaleel Ahmed.

Khaleel struck again in his next over as he clean bowled D’Arcy Short for 14.

With Australia continuing to lose wickets at regular intervals, Ben McDermott gave the hosts a hope of posting a respectable total as he struck an unbeaten 32, which came off 30 balls and included two boundaries and a six, before the rain came.

With the rain persisting, the match was called off with Australia on 132/7 after 19 overs.

Kumar and Khaleel picked up two wickets apiece, while Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav claimed one wicket each.
