Ex-Pakistan batsman Younis Khan has revealed that he found it difficult to get former all-rounder Shahid Afridi to “think about his cricket”.
Afridi has long been a fan-favourite in Pakistan for his aggressive style of batting, his reliability with the ball and his trademark celebration.
But, there were also times when Pakistan fans were left in utter disbelief at some of his performances on the field.
With this in mind, Younis admitted that he was tasked with the job of trying to get Afridi to focus on his cricket and adopt a serious mindset whenever he stepped out onto the field to represent Pakistan.
“It was my duty to try and get Shahid Afridi to think about his cricket,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion. “Everyone including my father and my brother would say to me for God’s sake try and get Shahid Afridi to think about what he is doing on the cricket field, but by and large it was a task that was not easy or one that paid dividends.”
