Legendary Pakistan batsman Younis Khan has admitted that whenever he played against arch-rivals India, he felt that he had to put up a strong performance.
Younis pointed out that he never did anything different when preparing for games against India, but felt that he had to do his best in order to please the fans.
“Whenever I came up against India, I didn’t prepare any differently, but the passion and pride came naturally to myself,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion. “I needed no extra motivation when facing the arch-rivals and it’s a matter of great satisfaction that my record and some of my best performances were against India.
“It didn’t matter whether I did well against any other opponent or not, but I felt that I had to perform well against India. I felt that I had to do well against India to please our fans and well-wishers who had high expectations when playing against our neighbours.”
Meanwhile, Younis also revealed that he has not decided on what he plans to do in the future.
“I’ve not really made any specific plans for the future and my only goal really is to serve my country in any way that it needs me to,” he said.
