Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal’s hopes of returning for the first Test against the West Indies are set to be derailed by a side strain he sustained last Tuesday.
Tamim has been on the sidelined recovering from a fractured wrist, which he sustained in the opening game of the Asia Cup against Sri Lanka in September.
While he was aiming to make his comeback in the first Test against the West Indies, which begins on November 22 in Chittagong, chief selector Minhajul Abedin has admitted that it is now an unlikely prospect.
“We are still awaiting a doctor’s report on Tamim to know the extent of his injury but it now seems difficult [for him to be available for the first Test],” Minhajul told ESPNcricinfo.
