Rishabh Pant struck an unbeaten 85 and Umesh Yadav took a six-wicket haul to ensure India enjoyed a successful day against the West Indies in Hyderabad.

Starting off the day on 295/7, the West Indies only added one run to their overnight score before Devendra Bishoo was clean bowled by Umesh for two runs.

Roston Chase, who scored an unbeaten 98 on the opening day, went on to score 106, which came off 189 balls and included eight boundaries and a six, before he suffered the same fate as Bishoo.

The West Indies were bowled out for 311 the very next ball as Shannon Gabriel was caught behind off the bowling of Umesh for a golden duck.

Umesh was the pick of the bowlers with six wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav snapped up three wickets and Ravichandran Ashwin chipped in with one.

Trailing by 311 runs, Prithvi Shaw ensured India got off to a good start as he dominated the 61-run partnership he put together with Lokesh Rahul.

Shaw was approaching his half-century when Rahul was cleaned up by West Indies captain Jason Holder for four runs.

Shaw ended up scoring a 53-ball 70, which included 11 boundaries and a six, before he was caught by Shimron Hetmyer at extra cover off the bowling of Jomel Warrican.

Cheteshwar Pujara only made 10 runs before he was dismissed by Gabriel.

Despite losing three quick wickets, India skipper Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane steadied things with a 60-run partnership before Kohli was given out lbw off the bowling of Holder for 45.

Kohli opted to review the decision, but replays showed that the ball was pitching in line and clipping leg stump.

Pant and Rahane kept the runs flowing and ensured no more wickets were lost as they forged an unbeaten 146-run partnership, during which both batsmen brought up their half-centuries, before stumps was called.
