Legendary Pakistan left-arm seamer Wasim Akram reminisced about sledging iconic India batsman Sachin Tendulkar when he made his international debut in 1989.

At only 16, Tendulkar travelled to Pakistan and made his debut in the 1st Test in Karachi.

By this time, Akram had already made a name for himself in international cricket as he had been playing for five years.

Akram recalled how he and the rest of the Pakistan team had read about Tendulkar and spoken about what to expect from the 16-year-old, who was being hailed as a prodigy.

Upon getting his first glimpse of Tendulkar, Akram admitted that he was surprised by what he saw.

Reminiscing about what he told Tendulkar, Akram was quoted by India Today as saying: “We had read about Sachin… that there’s a sensation coming…a 16-year old. But when he came (out to bat), he looked 14 years old and I told him, ‘mummy se puchke aaya hai? (Did you ask your mother before coming?)'”
