Guyana Amazon Warriors seamer Rayad Emrit took three wickets to lead his side to a thrilling three-run win over the St Lucia Stars in Guyana.

Being put in to bat first, the Amazon Warriors made a strong start to their innings as openers Chadwick Walton and Luke Ronchi amassed a 54-run partnership before Walton was stumped by Andre Fletcher off the bowling of Qais Ahmad for 31.

Shimron Hetmyer managed to make 21 before he was caught behind off the bowling of Qais.

Captain Shoaib Malik became Qais’ third victim as he was clean bowled for eight runs.

Ronchi went on to make 42 off 41 balls, which included two boundaries and a six, before he was trapped lbw off the bowling of Mark Chapman.

Jason Mohammed and Sherfane Rutherford provide some fireworks towards the end of the innings as they scored 20 not out and an unbeaten 16 respectively to help the Amazon Warriors finish on 141/4 off their 20 overs.

Qais was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, while Chapman chipped in with one.

Chasing 142 to win, the Stars lost opener David Warner early on as he was given out lbw off the bowling of Imran Tahir for 11.

Tahir took out Fletcher three balls later, but Lendl Simmons and Stars captain Kieron Pollard stabilised the innings with an 83-run partnership before Simmons was caught behind off the bowling of Emrit for 45, which came off 39 balls and included five sixes.

Chapman fell shortly after, while Pollard ended up making 32 before being dismissed by Emrit.

With Emrit taking out Rahkeem Cornwall the next ball, the Stars went into the final over needing 16 runs to win.

However, Keemo Paul clean bowled Kavem Hodge on the first ball before conceding 11 runs off the next four balls.

With five runs needed off the last ball, Qais could not get the job done as he only got a run after hitting the ball down to long-off.

Emrit was the most successful bowler with three wickets, while Tahir took two, and Paul and Chris Green claimed one wicket each.

Emrit was named Man of the Match.
