Sarfraz Ahmed: “We needed a guy who can play and hit sixes at  [number] 6 or 7, Asif Ali is a good addition for our team”

Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed has admitted that he is highly impressed with batsman Asif Ali, and regards him as an important member of the national team.

Asif is currently representing Pakistan in the ongoing T20 tri-series against Zimbabwe and Australia, and has made a number of useful contributions with the bat.

In the four matches he has played, Asif has has scored 100 runs, which includes a high score of 41 not out, at an average of 100 and a strike-rate of 169.49.

Given Asif’s superb performances, which generally occur towards the end of the innings, Sarfraz said: “We needed a guy who can play and hit sixes at  [number] 6 or 7, Asif Ali is a good addition for our team.”

Pakistan will take on Australia in the T20 tri-series final on Sunday.
