India all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the Hurricane Relief T20 Challenge charity match against the West Indies due to a viral illness.

As a result, India seamer Mohammed Shami will take his place in the ICC Rest of the World XI squad for the one-off Twenty20 International at Lord’s on Thursday.

Pandya and Shami both featured in the recently concluded edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Pandya played for the Mumbai Indians and took 18 wickets at an average of 21.16. He also scored 260 runs at an average of 28.88.

Shami, meanwhile, represented the Delhi Daredevils and claimed three wickets in four games at an average of 48.

In addition to Shami, England spinner Adil Rashid was also added to the squad.

Rashid, who signed a white-ball contract for Yorkshire, is expected to feature in his side’s Royal London One-Day Cup match against Derbyshire on Wednesday before travelling to London.

In the four matches he has played, Rashid has picked up eight wickets at an average of 31.12.

The one-off match will help raise funds for five cricket grounds in the Caribbean that were damaged by hurricanes Irma and Maria – James Ronald Webster Park in Anguilla, Dominica’s Windsor Park Stadium, Sir Viv Richards Stadium in Antigua, A.O. Shirley Recreation Ground in the British Virgin Islands and Carib Lumber Ball Park in St Maarten.
