Sri Lanka have been given a major boost ahead of their three-Test series in the West Indies as all-rounder Angelo Mathews and pace bowler Suranga Lakmal have been declared fit.
Mathews and Lakmal had been included in the squad that was announced for the series, but their participation depended on their fitness.
Mathews had suffered hamstring and calf injuries, the latter of which came while he was preparing for the Nidahas Trophy, but he has sufficiently recovered from both injuries.
As for Lakmal, he had been nursing a side strain, which led to him missing the Inter-Provincial First Class tournament, where he was supposed to captain Galle.
Meanwhile, wicketkeeper batsman Kusal Perera injured his left thumb while training in Kandy on Wednesday, but it is understood that he will still be available for the series.
The Test series between the West Indies and Sri Lanka will begin on June 6 in Trinidad. The second Test will be held in St Lucia on June 14, while the third Test, which will be the first-ever day-night Test in the Caribbean, will be played in Barbados and get underway on June 23.
