India wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni is aware of the allegations that have been made against pace bowler Mohammed Shami, but what does he think about them?
Shami’s wife, Hasin Jahan, claimed that he abused her and had extramarital affairs with numerous women.
She has already spoken with the police, who have since charged the 28-year-old with attempted murder, domestic violence and criminal intimidation.
“As much as I know, Shami is a great human being and he can’t cheat his wife and country. It is Shami’s personal life and we should not comment on it,” Dhoni told jansatta.com as quoted by The Statesman.
Given the severity of the allegations against Shami, the BCCI have withheld his contract, while the seamer himself has called for the claims to be “investigated thoroughly”.
However, he also feels that his wife might be mentally unstable.
“What is being said about my personal life is completely false,” he had said. “It’s definitely part of a big conspiracy against me. This is just an attempt to defame me.
“I don’t know what she is up to. She needs to explain what has changed so much in these few days. We even had a great Holi celebration earlier this month. Now she is suddenly levelling all these accusations on me. I think she has lost her mental balance or it might be her plan to sabotage my career.”
