Australia batsman Chris Lynn dislocated his right shoulder on Wednesday, but his manager, Stephen Atkinson, confirmed that he won’t need to undergo surgery.
Lynn suffered the injury while fielding during the T20 tri-series final against New Zealand in Auckland, which Australia won.
The 27-year-old has been ruled out of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he was supposed to represent the Lahore Qalandars, but there is still a chance he could make a full recovery prior to the Indian Premier League (IPL), which begins on April 7.
The positive news about not needing an operation came after Lynn spoke to doctors and visited specialists in Brisbane.
“Chris got a positive result from the doctors who said he will not need surgery,” Atkinson was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au. “Chris is disappointed at missing the Pakistan Super League but he will be making every effort to play in the Indian Premier League and, if selected, the five one-dayers for Australia in England in June.”
Lynn expressed his desire to be fit for the IPL, where he will represent the Kolkata Knight Riders once again after they spent INR 9.6 crores to acquire him during the auction last month.
“I’m disappointed to not go to the Pakistan Super League as planned, but I’ll now focus on rehabilitation and working as hard as I can, with the hope to still take part in the Indian Premier League later this year,” he had said.
