Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi has admitted that Imad Wasim has the necessary qualities to lead the national team in the future.

Wasim will be captaining the Karachi Kings in the upcoming edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which begins on Thursday.

“Imad Wasim is, in my eye, somebody who can lead Pakistan in the future,” Sethi was quoted as saying by the Business Recorder.

Meanwhile, Sethi is also hoping that former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum can convince the Black Caps to tour Pakistan.

McCullum will lead the Lahore Qalandars in the PSL, and Sethi is confident that the 36-year-old will speak to New Zealand and organise a series between the two countries in Pakistan.

“Brendon is as fit as ever and I tell you he won’t let anyone off the hook when he is on the field,” Sethi said. “It is good to have a representation from New Zealand and I hope the New Zealand team will come over and play a match or two in Lahore. And I am sure Brendon will help me persuade them [New Zealand].”
