The West Indies will hold their first-ever day-night Test match when they face Sri Lanka at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 23, according to a release by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).

The tour itinerary for the three-Test series shows that proceedings will get underway at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad on June 6.

The second Test, which begins on June 14, will be played at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St Lucia, while the third and final Test will be the day-night affair in Barbados.

“CWI wanted a day night Test, but we (SLC) had told them that it has to be either the first or the last Test. They decided to make it the last,” SLC CEO Ashley de Silva told Cricbuzz.

Sri Lanka last visited the Caribbean in March 2008, where they drew the Test series 1-1. However, despite the series ending as a draw, Sri Lanka made history by winning their first Test match in the West Indies.
