Following a record-breaking Big Bash League (BBL) season, D’Arcy Short has signed a two-year contract extension with the Hobart Hurricanes.
With Short already having been retained for the 2018/19 BBL, it means that he will now be contracted until the end of the 2020/21 season.
In the recently concluded edition of the tournament, Short made history by scoring the most runs in a BBL season as he accumulated 572 runs in 11 matches for the Hobart Hurricanes at an average of 57.20.
The Hurricanes even made the final, but missed out on winning the competition as they were beaten by the Adelaide Strikers, who won the BBL for the first time.
Despite a heart-breaking finish to an otherwise successful BBL campaign, Short conceded that his decision to extend his stay with the Hurricanes was an easy one.
“It was an easy decision because I like coming down here with all the boys, especially after having success this year,” he was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au. “I definitely think we can go one step further, if not next year, then the year after.
“Hopefully the success keeps coming and we can keep doing well.”
