Liam Plunkett sustained an injury while bowling during his second over

England will be sweating over pace bowler Liam Plunkett after he left the field with an injury just eight balls into his spell during the third ODI against Australia in Sydney.

During his second over, Plunkett was running in to bowl when he pulled up and seemed to have done something to his hamstring.

After speaking to captain Eoin Morgan and all-rounder Chris Woakes, Plunkett headed to the pavilion to be treated.

“It’s a little bit of a concern. It looks like it’s gone in the hamstring so that’s not good for him,” ex-England captain Michael Vaughan said on BT Sport as quoted by The Cricketer.

England were also given a major scare when opener Jason Roy seemed to hurt his shoulder after fielding the ball, but he stayed on the pitch.

England made 302/6 in their innings thanks to an unbeaten century from wicketkeeper Jos Buttler and Woakes’ 53 not out.
