Arjun Nair has been banned from bowling in domestic competitions for 90 days

The Sydney Thunder will be without spinner Arjun Nair for the remainder of the Big Bash League (BBL) after he was suspended from bowling for three months due to a suspect action.

Nair’s action was reported following the Thunder’s match against the Hobart Hurricanes on December 30.

The 19-year-old had his action tested at the Bupa National Cricket Centre in Brisbane on January 4, but results suggest that he used a different bowling action in comparison to the one he had when bowling against the Hurricanes.

Under Cricket Australia’s rules and regulations, any bowler that has a “markedly different action” will be suspended from bowling in all domestic competitions for at least 90 days.

Nair will be allowed to bowl once again after his action is tested and deemed to have been remedied.

Despite Nair’s suspension, Sydney Thunder general manager Lee Germon has said the BBL franchise will support the Canberra native.

“Arjun is a talented and popular member of our club,” Germon was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au. “We believe he will have a long and successful career with Sydney Thunder and shall support him through this process.”

Nair represented the Thunder in eight BBL matches and took nine wickets at an average of 22.77.
