South Africa batsman Temba Bavuma has been released from the Proteas’ Test squad and will represent the Cape Cobras in the Momentum One Day Cup.
Bavuma has not played during the ongoing Test series against India as AB de Villiers made his Test comeback, while captain Faf du Plessis also recovered from back and shoulder injuries that caused him to miss the inaugural four-day Test match against Zimbabwe on Boxing Day.
Bavuma will next be in action on January 17 when the Cobras take on the Knights in the Momentum One Day Cup.
The 27-year-old has represented South Africa in 27 Tests to date and scored 1,259 runs, which includes a century and nine fifties, at an average of 33.13.
