Melbourne Renegades captain Aaron Finch struck a fifty and all-rounder Dwayne Bravo took three wickets to lead their side to an eight-wicket win over the Sydney Sixers, who have now lost five games on the trot.

Choosing to bowl first, the Renegades got their first breakthrough on the fourth ball of the match as Sixers opener Peter Nevill was caught behind off the bowling of Mohammad Nabi for a golden duck.

Nevill’s opening partner, Jason Roy, could only muster five runs before he was brilliantly caught by Finch at mid-off off the bowling of Bravo.

Even though Nic Maddinson and Sam Billings made 24 and 22 respectively, the Sixers continued to sink ever further into the abyss.

However, captain Johan Botha provided some fireworks towards the end of their innings as he hammered a 23-ball 32.

Thanks to Botha’s efforts, the Sixers ended up limping to 111/8 off their 20 overs.

Bravo was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, while Nabi snapped up two, and Brad Hogg and Jack Wildermuth chipped in with one wicket apiece.

Chasing 112 to win, the Renegades were dealt a big blow on the fifth ball of the innings as opener Marcus Harris was clean bowled by Ben Dwarshuis for one run.

However, Finch and Cameron White made up for it with a 91-run partnership, during which Finch brought up his fifty.

However, he was unable to guide the Renegades across the finish line as he was run out by Roy for 51 off 38 balls, which included six boundaries and two sixes.

White ended up making 49 off 44 deliveries, which included five boundaries and a six, as the Renegades reached their target with 27 balls to spare.

Dwarshuis was the only bowler to take a wicket.

Finch was named Man of the Match.
