Brisbane Heat opener Chris Lynn and captain Brendon McCullum walloped 63 and 61 respectively to lead their side to a convincing nine-wicket win over the Melbourne Stars.
Electing to bowl first, the Heat struck early on as Yasir Shah trapped Stars opener Ben Dunk lbw for five runs.
Just as the Stars were beginning to recover, Luke Wright was stumped by Jimmy Peirson off the bowling of Mitchell Swepson for 19.
Kevin Pietersen managed to make 30 before he became Swepson’s second victim.
Marcus Stoinis and Rob Quiney fell shortly after, but Glenn Maxwell rescued the Stars with his knock of 50, which came off 39 balls and included five boundaries and a six.

Thanks to Maxwell and James Faulkner’s unbeaten 20, the Stars ended up making 141/7 off their 20 overs.
Swepson was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, while Yasir, Ben Cutting and Mark Steketee chipped in with one wicket apiece.
Chasing 142 to win, the Heat got off to a scorching start as Lynn and McCullum amassed a 101-run partnership, during which McCullum raced past his half-century.

However, McCullum’s time at the crease came to an end not long after he brought up his fifty as he was caught by Quiney at long-off off the bowling of Liam Bowe for 61, which came off 30 balls and included seven boundaries and three sixes.
Lynn and Joe Burns mopped up the remaining runs to lead the Heat to victory with 32 balls to spare.
Lynn finished on 63 off 46 balls, which included seven boundaries and three sixes, while Burns struck three boundaries during his 12-ball 18.
