Ben Stokes has been withdrawn from the Ashes squad and dropped by New Balance

England all-rounder Ben Stokes has vowed to share his side of the story on what transpired before he was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm last month.

In the early hours of September 25, Stokes was allegedly involved in a street fight with two men outside Mbargo nightclub in Bristol.

His actions landed him in serious trouble as he was withdrawn from the Ashes squad, while New Balance terminated their contract with the 26-year-old, which is supposedly worth £200,000 a year.

Stokes’ sponsorship deal with New Balance went up in smoke after a video emerged of him apparently mocking the son of British celebrity Katie Price.

Price’s son, Harvey, suffers from autism, ADHD, Prader-Willi Syndrome and blindness.

Neil Fairbrother, who is Stokes’ agent, has confirmed that his management company, ISM, will continue to support the all-rounder.

Fairbrother added that Stokes will only offer a full explanation once the investigation by Avon and Somerset Police has ended.

“Ben explained to me the full circumstances of what happened in Bristol and I told him that he has my total support and backing,” Fairbrother said in a statement as quoted by ESPNcricinfo. “I am aware that he has fully cooperated with the police inquiry and voluntarily provided a detailed statement on the same day as the incident. He will continue to assist the police in any way he can.

“Ben will also make public his full explanation and evidence when the time is right. On legal advice, that is not possible whilst the investigation continues and no charges have been brought forward. Ben does not wish to prejudice the process.

“He is also concerned about the impact the widespread publicity has on everyone involved including the ECB, his team mates and the game of cricket itself which he loves.

“We will not be making any further comment relating to this at this time.”
