The St Kitts and Nevis Patriots maintained their perfect record by winning their third straight game after opening batsman Evin Lewis clubbed a spectacular 92 to lead them to a 33-run victory over the St Lucia Stars.
Being put in to bat first, the Patriots got off to a brisk start before losing captain Chris Gayle, who was clean bowled by Jerome Taylor for 12 runs.
Taylor struck again the very next ball as he trapped Mohammad Hafeez lbw for a golden duck.
While Lewis went on a rampage after Hafeez’s dismissal, wickets continued to fall around him as Brandon King and Devon Thomas were removed for 11 and nine runs respectively.
Lewis ended up making 92 off 52 balls, which included five boundaries and seven sixes, before he was dismissed by Kyle Mayers.
With Carlos Brathwaite and Mohammad Nabi adding 21 and 24 not out respectively, the Patriots finished on 196/6 off their 20 overs.
Taylor was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, while Mayers, Shane Shillingford and captain Darren Sammy chipped in with one wicket apiece.
Chasing 197 to win, the Stars got off to a similar start as the Patriots as Johnson Charles and Kamran Akmal were both taken out by Hafeez.
Just as the Stars were beginning to rebuild their innings, Hafeez struck again as he sent Marlon Samuels packing for 21.
Nabi then joined the party as he ripped through the Stars’ middle order with a three-wicket haul of his own, which included the key wicket of Andre Fletcher, who made 48.
Despite some late hitting from Rahkeem Cornwall, who finished unbeaten on 23, the Stars ended the match on 163/8.
Hafeez and Nabi took three wickets apiece, while Hasan Ali and Tabraiz Shamsi claimed one wicket each.
