CPL 2017 7th Match: Williams’ three-for sees Tallawahs take down Knight Riders

Kesrick Williams’ three-wicket haul led to the Jamaica Tallawahs snapping the Trinbago Knight Riders’ two-game winning streak as they triumphed by four wickets.

Being put in to bat first, the Knight Riders got off to a scorching start before Williams took out Brendon McCullum and Sunil Narine for 16 and 23 respectively.

Colin Munro and Darren Bravo came to the rescue with a 57-run partnership before Munro was dismissed by Krishmar Santokie for a 25-ball 41.

Wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin only made five, while Bravo went on to score 33 before being taken out by Mohammad Sami.

With Odean Smith slicing through the lower order, the Knight Riders ended up being bowled out for 147.

Williams and Smith picked up three wickets apiece, while Santokie snapped up two, and Sami and Imad Wasim chipped in with one wicket each.

Chasing 148 to win, the Tallawahs made a fantastic start to their innings as Kumar Sangakkara and Lendl Simmons amassed a 61-run partnership before Simmons was clean bowled by Shadab Khan for 38.

Andre McCarthy and Rovman Powell fell shortly after, while Sangakkara went on to score 47 off 41 balls, which included seven boundaries.

Even though Shakib Al Hasan and Jonathan Foo were removed for 16 and 19 respectively, the Tallawahs managed to get across the finish line with four balls to spare.

Narine and Kevon Cooper took two wickets apiece, while Shadab and captain Dwayne Bravo claimed one wicket each.
