England have opted not to make any changes to their squad for the second Test against South Africa, which begins on Friday in Nottingham.
England captain Joe Root got his tenure as Test captain off to a fantastic start as his side thrashed South Africa by 211 runs in the first Test at Lord’s.
The Proteas were especially disappointing during their chase of 331 to win as they were skittled out for 119 behind Moeen Ali’s superb six-wicket haul.
However, South Africa will be bolstered by the return of captain Faf du Plessis, who missed the first Test due to the “difficult” birth of his first child. Dean Elgar led the side in Du Plessis’ absence.
But, while Du Plessis will come back into the side, the tourists will be without pace bowler Kagiso Rabada as he was banned for the second Test after telling England all-rounder Ben Stokes to “f**k off” upon dismissing him on the opening day of the first Test.
England’s squad for second Test: Joe Root (capt), Alastair Cook, Keaton Jennings, Gary Ballance, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali, Liam Dawson, Toby Roland-Jones, Stuart Broad, Mark Wood, Jimmy Anderson
Our commentators continue to moan about Dawson. It’d be nice if they gave him a chance and backed him. All this talk about Mason Crane who took 0 wickets against SA A and 0 wickets against SA in two tour games. Dawson did his job in the first Test.
