South Africa head coach Russell Domingo has returned home from England once again after his mother passed away on Sunday.
Domingo’s mother was involved in a car accident in Port Elizabeth late last month and was rushed to hospital in critical condition.
Domingo travelled back to South Africa at that point, but headed back to England after his mother was discharged from the hospital.
But, her condition took a turn for the worse and Cricket South Africa confirmed that she had passed away.
“Our deepest condolences go out to Russell Domingo and his family following the untimely passing of his mother late last night. #RIP,” the board said on Twitter.
Cricket South Africa have not said when Domingo will return, but it is likely that he will not be back in England for the start of the second Test on Friday in Nottingham.
Domingo’s contract as head coach expires at the end of the ongoing four-Test series, but he confirmed that he had reapplied for the position.
