The ICC have backed the idea of Pakistan hosting a World XI for three Twenty20 matches in Lahore later this year.

The ICC voiced their support for the matches as they want to help bring international cricket back to Pakistan.

The possibility of the games going ahead were discussed at the ICC’s Annual General Meeting in London on Saturday.

“Further details will be announced in due course,” the ICC said in a statement.

Zimbabwe have been the only Full Member nation to tour Pakistan since the Sri Lankan team bus was attacked by armed militants in Lahore in March 2009.

While international teams have stayed away from Pakistan, this year’s Pakistan Super League (PSL) final, which featured a few international players, was held in Lahore on March 5.
