Robin Uthappa had good fortune on his side as he guided the Kolkata Knight Riders to a 17-run win over the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Uthappa should have been out for a golden duck as he nicked the first ball he faced to the wicketkeeper, but umpire Anil Dandekar did not give him out.
Taking full advantage of the umpiring blunder, Uthappa smashed a superb 68 to lead his side to victory.
Opting to bowl first, the Sunrisers took out Sunil Narine for just six runs before captain Gautam Gambhir was clean bowled by Rashid Khan for 15.
Uthappa and Manish Pandey stabilised the innings with a 77-run partnership before Uthappa was removed by Ben Cutting for 68 off 39 balls, which included five boundaries and four sixes.
Pandey went on to make 46 and even though the Knight Riders lost quick wickets, they still managed to finish on 172/6 off their 20 overs.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, while Rashid, Cutting and Ashish Nehra chipped in with one wicket apiece.
Chasing 173 to win, the Sunrisers made a solid start to their innings as captain David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan amassed a 46-run partnership.
However, once they pair were gone for 26 and 23 respectively, the Sunrisers failed to recover as they were pegged back by wickets at regular intervals.
Every batsman that came out to the crease managed to reach double figures, but none of them were able to convert their encouraging starts into big scores. As a result, the Sunrisers ended up making 155/6 off their 20 overs.
Chris Woakes was the most successful bowler with two wickets, while Narine, Trent Boult, Kuldeep Yadav and Yusuf Pathan claimed one wicket each.
Uthappa was named Man of the Match.
