Sunil Narine bowled a highly economical spell, which produced one wicket, and scored a quickfire 37 to lead the Kolkata Knight Riders to an eight-wicket win over the Kings XI Punjab.

Being put in to bat first, the Kings XI made a solid start to their innings as Hashim Amla and Manan Vohra amassed a 53-run partnership before Vohra was clean bowled by Piyush Chawla for 28.

Marcus Stoinis only made nine runs, while Amla went on to score 25 runs before falling to Colin de Grandhomme.

Captain Glenn Maxwell, David Miller and wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha all got starts, but failed to convert them into bigger scores as they were removed for 25, 28 and 25 respectively.

Nonetheless, the Kings XI still managed to claw their way to 170/9 off their 20 overs.

Umesh Yadav was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets, while Chris Woakes snapped up two and Narine, Chawla and De Grandhomme chipped in with one wicket apiece.

Chasing 171 to win, the Kings XI made a fantastic start to their innings as Narine and skipper Gautam Gambhir put together a 76-run stand before Narine was sent packing for an 18-ball 37.

Even though Robin Uthappa was dismissed not long after for 26, Gambhir and Manish Pandey finished things off for the Knight Riders.

Gambhir ended up scoring 72 off 49 balls, which included 11 boundaries, while Pandey remained undefeated on 25 off 16 deliveries, which included two boundaries and a six.
