Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh is in doubt for the Ashes at the end of the year as there are rumours floating around that he may need to undergo a full shoulder reconstruction.

Last week, Marsh was ruled out for the last two Tests of the ongoing series against India due to a shoulder injury.

Marsh has been dealing with pain in his shoulder for much of the summer and will visit a specialist in Melbourne this week to determine what needs to be done.

Should he require a full shoulder reconstruction, it could see him sidelined for nine months, which will give him no chance of playing when England travel Down Under in November.

With Marsh out of action, fellow all-rounder Marcus Stoinis was called up as his replacement for the last two Tests against India.

India and Australia are tied at 1-1 going into the third Test in Ranchi on March 16.
