Australia has announced that all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has been called up as a replacement for Mitchell Marsh.

Marsh, who is also an all-rounder, was ruled out for the rest of the ongoing Test series against India after aggravating a shoulder injury.

Stoinis will head to India after the conclusion of Victoria’s Sheffield Shield game against Western Australia in Alice Springs.

Stoinis, who stole the show in an ODI against New Zealand on January 30 by smashing an unbeaten 146, has yet to play Test cricket and could make his debut in the third Test in Ranchi on March 16.

However, the 27-year-old will face stiff competition from top-order batsman Usman Khawaja and all-rounder Glenn Maxwell.
