England batsman Jonny Bairstow has been added to the Twenty20 squad as a replacement for opener Alex Hales, who was ruled out of the series with a fractured hand.

Hales sustained the injury in the second ODI against India in Cuttack while diving to take a catch to try and dismiss Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Bairstow, whose last Twenty20 International came in July 2016, was supposed to return home following the conclusion of the ongoing three-match ODI series, but he will now remain in India.

Hales, meanwhile, will head back home to see a surgeon and is expected to be out of action for six weeks.
