Chris Lynn was recently ruled out of Australia’s ODI series against Pakistan due to a neck injury, but just how serious is it?

Lynn, who made his ODI debut in Brisbane last Friday, revealed that he has been playing with excruciating pain for more than a month, but upon undergoing scans, he himself was surprised to find out that he had a bulging disc in his neck.

“I’ve had a bulging disc in my neck for the past five weeks, but I only had a scan last week (and) found out it was pushing against the nerve,” Lynn told Triple M Brisbane. “I actually thought it was in my shoulder but it’s the pain from the disc. It’s not ideal.”

Lynn has also starred for the Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League (BBL) as he has smashed a tournament-high 26 sixes.

While the 26-year-old is in a lot of pain, he hasn’t ruled out the possibility of playing for the Heat if they reach the final of the BBL.

“The surgeon said about three or four weeks (out of the game). But, look, if the Heat make the final, I’m going to say there’s a small percentage chance I’ll be able to play,” Lynn said. “It’s a small percentage, but it’s better than none I guess.”
