Uncapped batsman Shai Hope and all-rounder Rovman Powell have been included in the West Indies’ squad for the upcoming ODI tri-series against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka next month.

Hope, who has represented the West Indies in six Tests, and Powell, who has yet to play for his international game, came into the squad after Courtney Browne, the head of West Indies’ selection committee, decided to drop all-rounder Kieron pollard and wicketkeeper-batsman Denesh Ramdin.

Hope has yet to play limited overs cricket for the West Indies, but has scored 171 runs at an average of 15.54 in his six Tests. He also recently made 76 in the three-day warm-up match against the PCB Patron’s XI, which was played under lights with the pink ball.

Powell, meanwhile, came up on the national selectors’ radar following his encouraging performance for the Jamaica Tallawahs in this year’s Caribbean Premier League (CPL), where he scored 228 runs at an average of 25.33.

The ODI tri-series will get underway on November 14 with a match between hosts Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. The West Indies’ first match will come against Sri Lanka on November 16.
