Mushtaq’s experience in England will come in handy for Pakistan

Pakistan have added former leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed and all-rounder Azhar Mahmood to their coaching staff ahead of the national team’s tour of England, according to ESPNcricinfo.

Mushtaq, who is the head coach at Pakistan’s National Cricket Academy in Lahore, will be the team’s assistant coach, but will focus more on bowling, while Mahmood will hold the same role during the limited overs portion of the series.

It has also been reported that Steve Rixon will be the team’s fielding coach.

While none of the appointments have been made formal yet, Mushtaq and Mahmood have a lot of experience when it comes to English conditions as Mushtaq used to be England’s spin-bowling consultant, while Mahmood still plays county cricket in the country.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have extended the contracts of batting coach Grant Flower and Grant Luden, who will now be the team’s trainer after initially holding on to a trainer-cum-fielding coach role.
