England pace bowler James Anderson has been reprimanded by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for showing disrespect to umpire Sundaram Ravi.
Anderson was told not to “verbally engage” with Rangana Herath while the Sri Lankan spinner was batting during the tourists’ first innings of the third Test at Lord’s.
After being warned, Anderson lashed out verbally at Ravi and was subsequently hit with a Level 1 offence for “conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game”.
Since Anderson accepted the punishment, there will be no need for a formal hearing.
