Kevin Pietersen will be sidelined until November after he tore his calf muscle while playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Pietersen suffered the injury after facing just one ball in the Rising Pune Supergiants’ 13-run loss to the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday.
The former England batsman underwent scans on Saturday, which confirmed the injury. He will now miss the remainder of the IPL and will also not be fit to play in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) later this year.
“Over & out, India! Injuries are all part of the job! Horrible tear in my calf! Sad to be leaving a really great bunch of boys but looking forward to being back with my family! London bound for a summer off! Vacation till November! Bye for now! Lots of love, KPxxx,” Pietersen said via his Instagram account.
Pietersen represented the Supergiants in four matches and scored 73 runs at an average of 36.50.
