Australia head coach Darren Lehmann will head to Wellington on Saturday and join the national team after being cleared to travel.

Lehmann, who was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis 10 days ago, will stay in Wellington until the first Test, which gets underway in the city on February 12.

Even though Lehmann will be in New Zealand, Michael Di Venuto will continue his role as acting head coach for the last two ODIs.

“Darren has received clearance from specialists in Australia to travel on Saturday and return to work,” Australia’s chief medical officer John Orchard said.

Australia are currently 1-0 down in the ongoing ODI series and will look to bounce back during the second ODI on Saturday.
