Sri Lanka are likely to have a number of key players missing from their squad when they travel to India for a three-match Twenty20 series next month.

Twenty20 captain Lasith Malinga, all-rounder Angelo Mathews, spinner Rangana Herath and pace bowler Nuwan Pradeep have all been listed as doubtful for the series as they are all nursing injuries.

Malinga has yet to sufficiently recover from a knee injury that saw him miss the recent tour of New Zealand and he is expected to make a full recovery in approximately two weeks. With Malinga out, Dinesh Chandimal is likely to captain the side as he was handed the reins for the two-match Twenty20 series against New Zealand earlier this month.

Mathews is recovering from a groin strain and Sri Lanka Cricket are hoping that he will be fully fit for the Asia Cup, which begins on February 24.

Herath and Pradeep have been diagnosed with a pulled side muscle and hamstring injury respectively. Both players injured themselves while playing in the Premier T20 Tournament, which is Sri Lanka’s domestic Twenty20 competition.
