The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has banned former Rajasthan Royals off-spinner Ajit Chandila for life for his involvement in the 2013 Indian Premier League (IPL) spot-fixing scandal.
Meanwhile, Mumbai batsman Hiken Shah was banned for five years for making an “illegal approach” to a Mumbai team-mate ahead of the 2015 edition of the IPL.
A BCCI release confirmed that Chandila had breached all seven clauses of Article 2 of the BCCI’s anti-corruption code, while Shah breached three clauses.
The BCCI’s move against Chandila comes after he was suspended by the board in May 2013 after he was arrested by Delhi police.
