Bangladesh opener Soumya Sarkar and batsman Sabbir Rahman both made 43 runs to help their side cruise to a 42-run win over Zimbabwe in the second Twenty20 International in Khulna.

Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza would have been content with his decision to bat first as his side got off to a solid start before losing Tamim Iqbal for 23.

Sarkar and Rahman took over and punished Zimbabwe’s bowling attack. The former scored 43 off 33 balls, which included four boundaries and three sixes, while the latter made 43 off 30 deliveries, which included one boundary and three sixes.

Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan chipped in with 24 and 27 respectively as Bangladesh finished on 167/3 off their 20 overs.

Taurai Muzarabani, Wellington Masakadza and Graeme Cremer picked up one wicket apiece.

Chasing 168 to win, Zimbabwe struggled right from the get-go and only three of their batsmen ended up reaching double figures. Had it not been for skipper Hamilton Masakadza, Vusi Sibanda and Malcolm Waller, who made 30, 21 and 29 respectively, Zimbabwe would have finished on a much lower score than 125/8.

Rahman was the most successful bowler with three wickets, while Mustafizur Rahman snapped up two and Mortaza, Al-Amin Hossain and Shuvagata Hom claimed one wicket each.

Rahman was named Man of the Match.
