Australia pace bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile is unlikely to feature in the Boxing Day Test against the West Indies after he dislocated his shoulder while playing for the Perth Scorchers.

Coulter-Nile suffered the injury when he landed awkwardly on his shoulder while fielding at backward point during the Scorchers’ Big Bash League (BBL) match against the Adelaide Strikers on Monday. Coulter-Nile left the field in the 12th over and did not reappear.

Scorchers captain Adam Voges revealed that Coulter-Nile’s “shoulder is back in place” and added that the 28-year-old will undergo scans on Tuesday.

Should Coulter-Nile not be fit enough for the Boxing Day Test, Victoria seamer Scott Boland will take his place in the squad.
