Sydney Sixers wicketkeeper Brad Haddin hammered 72 runs and spinner Nathan Lyon claimed a five-wicket haul to help their side annihilate the Hobart Hurricanes by 95 runs.
However, Hurricanes batsman George Bailey deserves a lot of credit as he scored a valiant 62 not out.
Sixers captain Moises Henriques would have been pleased with his decision to bat first even though Haddin and Jordan Silk were the only two batsmen to make major contributions.
Haddin set the foundations with a superb innings of 72 off 45 balls, which included eight boundaries and two sixes, before Silk gave the Sixers a big spark towards the end of their innings with his knock of 41, which came off 25 deliveries and included two sixes.
Thanks to Haddin and Silk, the Sixers finished on 186/7 off their 20 overs.
Shaun Tait and Cameron Boyce picked up two wickets apiece, while Joe Mennie chipped in with one wicket.
Chasing 187 to win, none of the Hurricanes’ batsmen, with the exception of Bailey, were able to reach double figures.
Despite Bailey’s entertaining innings of 62 off 45 balls, which included eight boundaries and a six, the Hurricanes were bundled outĀ for a dreary score of 91.
